The Independent Living Skills Program is geared toward helping our clients to function as independent as possible according to their ability. Our program is designed to foster the skills that clients possess and to develop other skills that would impede their ability to be self sufficient. The client will be given a Life Skills Assessment which will assist in determining their independent skill level. The client will participate in individual and group sessions. Our curriculum covers the ten skill areas required by IL regulations, which include:

  • Money management
  • Career Counseling
  • Employment Skills
  • Apartment Searching
  • Housekeeping
  • Shopping
  • Cooking
  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • High School/GED Completion
  • Preventive Health Education

In addition to these core requirements, the program incorporates topics such as: decision making, conflict resolution, anger management, communication and self-esteem.
